Tour Overview

Welcome to our Winter Park neighborhood on this beautiful day! While many well-known celebrities have passed through this beautiful village over its rich history, probably no one impacted, and was impacted by, Winter Park more than Fred McFeely Rogers, lovingly known the world over to millions of people as the unforgettable host of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood for over 50 years now.

Fred hosted 895 episodes of Mister Rogers Neighborhood, writing all the scripts and over 200 original songs – and much of this was written right here in Winter Park!

Come along on our Mister Rogers Walking Tour as we visit the heart of town where Fred and his lifetime sweetheart, Sara Joanne Byrd Rogers, fell in love while in college and spent many years later in life! You’ll learn fascinating tidbits about the three key elements that came together to inspire Fred to begin a lifetime ministry of serving others through the medium of television, including how he was impacted by a mural on the Rollins College campus. Walk in the same places that Fred and Joanne did through different seasons of their life, as you come to better understand this legendary and wonderfully creative, kind man who left such a uniquely positive influence on the world.

Our guides are devoted fans of Fred who research and verify their information directly with members of the Rogers family, Fred’s production team from the TV show and the Fred Rogers Center to weave a beautiful story that you can’t find anywhere else. Come along on an amazing journey of joy as you celebrate the accomplishments of a great, yet humble, man from Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and our Winter Park neighbor!

    "Just do it!"
OK, so if you are reading this at all, you gotta be a Mr. Rogers fan, so don't even think any more, just do the tour. It's all about how he grew up in PA and what brung him to FL and his whole career. I grew up on the show so I was totally into it but I think people who don't know him too good would definitely like this tour to.

    "S-P-E-C-I-A-L, Special!"
My sister recommended this tour and I understand why. If you like Mr. Rogers you are going to love this. I didn't know he was a part-year Winter Park resident or that he went to school at Rollins. The guides really knew his story well and one of them had even met Mr. Rogers, which was a cool story too. Not too much walking although it starts to heat up by the end of the tour. I wish I had know he was around Winter Park when he was still alive. But, DO THIS TOUR if you like the man and the show.

His life story is so interesting and his whole life journey makes so much sense the way it was laid out. Well told with lots of detail. 3. "Unforgettable Experience!"
Recently at a conference in Orlando, I realized how close I was to Fred Rogers Alma Mater Rollins College. I have been walking with Fred this year as I have been diligently studying his life and legacy. Had one afternoon free and decided to drive into Winter Park. First stopped at the Chamber of Commerce and discovered the Fred Roger's Walking Tour! The Tour had just left for the day but after phoning Rich, he offered to take my mom and I on our own private tour. We learned so much and loved every minute! The cherry on top.. as we visited the newly unveiled sculpture on Rollins Campus the sculptor himself was there and was giving a guest lecture that we we were able to attend! I am surprised at how powerful it was to walk the corridors that Fred walked, to stand looking up at the window of his dorm room, to see the "Life is for Service" Plaque that so shaped this man. I will never forget it. Thank you Rich!

My husband and I took this tour yesterday. Rich, the tour guide was very knowledgeable about Fred Rogers and all that he has contributed in his lifetime. The walking tour was very enjoyable and we certainly learned a lot about the town of Winter Park and especially Fred Rogers. The boat tour was included and was also a very enjoyable and scenic ride.
